This joint creative project is a result of the convergence between two friends, artists and disciplines. Olya Brenner – a glass artist, works intuitively with her materials and allows her work process to lead her to the object’s final form. While Dafi Reis Doron – an industrial designer, develops the shapes of her objects using precise 3D animation computer drawings. Their collaborative work honed the differences between their two mediums and the challenges that arise in the design and manufacturing processes – resulting in unique objects that neither artists would’ve created had they worked on them separately.

They chose a black and white striped pattern as the basis for their design process. The computer work is represented by the precision of the lines, while their hand-crafted amorphas application created an entirely new appearance.
The striped motif also connected the two inspirational worlds that orbit both creators. Ola’s biometrical research of the natural world: the camouflage effect of zebra stripes against predatory flies. Just as the stripes change from the zebra’s calf to its leg, so do the stripes from the vase’s base to its neck.
The stripes connected to Dafi’s design research of warp and weft woven patterns fabrics. The colorful game between the vase’s glass blown opaque and transparent base that’s layered beneath the colorful stripes, gave way to endless striking variations, that resemble gingham fabrics and seem to converse with the world of fashion.
